Revealed: Why David Warner isn't playing in GT vs DC IPL 2024 match

Sumit Kumar replaced David Warner in GT vs DC clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Match No. 32 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is currently underway between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC). This match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat. This is an important match for both teams, as they need to get two important points on the board. Notably, both teams won their respective last games and have momentum on their side.
Currently, Shubman Gill and Co. are sixth at the table with three wins and three defeats. They need to win this game to move up in the points table for playoffs race. On the other hand, DC are at ninth place as they have only two wins under their belt in six games. But they registered a comprehensive win against LSG.
GT vs DC: David Warner misses out due to injury; Sumit Kumar takes his place
Well, the toss has been done, DC have won it and they have decided to bowl first. However, there is a big boost for Gujarat Titans. Their star batter, David Miller, is back in the lineup after missing a few games due to injury. GT tried Kane Williamson and Matthew Wade in his place, but it didn’t work. However, the visitors, DC have suffered a massive blow. Star opener David Warner has to sit out due to a niggle.
The left-hander, who has been a consistent batter for them at the top, is all set to miss the GT vs DC clash on Wednesday. The DC skipper confirmed this news at the toss. Rishabh Pant said, “We’ll bowl first. It’s an unknown wicket, our batting is strong. Death bowling has been a little concern. We’re looking at gaining some momentum. We’re playing almost the same team – David Warner is sitting out, Sumit Kumar is back.”
Notably, the veteran opener was hit on the left hand in the last game, which has certainly ruled him out of this game. David Warner has scored 166 runs at a strike rate of 138.33 so far in the ongoing tournament. His absence might cost DC a lot. This is not the first injury case for them. Mitchell Marsh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mukesh Kumar are some players who got injured earlier.
