Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are clashing with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 7 of Indian Premier League 2026. The CSK vs PBKS clash got underway on Friday, April 3, at Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
With the home advantage, CSK aim for their first victory in the tournament. Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. lost their opening game to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by eight wickets. They were bowled out for 127 runs in the first innings, which RR chased down with ease.
In the CSK vs PBKS clash, Punjab won the toss and opted to field first. Notably, batter Dewald Brevis is not part of CSK’s playing XI once again. He also missed the previous game against RR.

Notably, Brevis has been ruled out of the initial games of IPL 2026 due to a side strain. He is expected to miss two to three games at the start.
He was seen at the practice sessions ahead of the game; however, he was not picked in the clash. His absence is a big blow for the side, who are already facing woes in their batting department.
The right-handed batsman gave a brilliant performance last season after joining the team midway as a replacement player. He hit 225 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 180, including two half-centuries. Following his impressive performance, the five-time champions retained him in their squad for IPL 2026 for INR 2.20 crore.
