Why ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is taking place after 3 years and not 4

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is played every four years. However, this edition of the tournament is held after just three years of the previous edition. The last edition took place in 2022 and three years later, the ongoing edition is on.
Many have been wondering about why the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is taking place after three years this time instead of four, and the reason behind that has been finally revealed. According to the original schedule, the last edition was scheduled to be played in 2021.
However, due to COVID-19, the tournament took place in 2022. But now the International Cricket Council (ICC) has brought back the old cycle of four years and hence the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is taking place after three years. Originally, it was slated to take place in 2025 if we count from 2021.
