Mumbai Indians (MI) are locking horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 47 of Indian Premier League 2026 at Wankhede Stadium on May 4 (Monday). While MI take the ninth spot in the points table, LSG are placed at the last 10th spot.
Both the sides have given a dismal performance so far in IPL 2026, winning just two games. However, Lucknow (8) have played one game less than Mumbai (9).
Both teams are on the verge of losing a berth to the playoffs and need to win their remaining games to reach the upper half of the points table. Moreover, their qualification to the playoffs also depends on the results of other teams.
In tonight’s encounter, MI stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to field first. At the toss, he informed that Pandya is missing the game due to illness. On the other hand, pacer Mayank Yadav missed out yet again from LSG’s playing XI.

Notably, Mayank has been overlooked for the encounter. He has only played one game against Rajasthan Royals, where he proved too expensive by leaking 56 runs and failing to get any wickets.
He was rested in the initial games to manage his workload and safeguard him from any injuries. However, since he struggled to make a mark in the only game he played, LSG have continuously neglected him from the team.
In the clash against MI, LSG have opted for pacers like Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Prince Yadav. They made two changes to the playing XI, adding Josh Inglis and debutant Akshat Raghuwanshi.
