Rajasthan Royals (RR) are taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League 2026 on May 19. RR’s stand-in captain, Yashasvi Jaiswal, won the toss and opted to bowl first. The match is taking place at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
It is a crucial game for RR, who are still active in the playoffs race. A victory will send them to fourth spot in the points table and push them closer to a playoffs berth. LSG are eliminated from the tournament and are stranded in the last position in the points table.
At the toss, LSG captain Rishabh Pant informed that pacer Mohammed Shami and batter Aiden Markram were not part of the encounter. Both of them featured in the previous game against CSK, which LSG won.
Why are Shami & Markram absent from the RR vs LSG match?
Mohammed Shami has been dropped for the encounter and replaced by Mohsin Khan. Aiden Markram has returned home for personal reasons, and LSG have named Ayush Badoni in his place.
Speaking at the toss, Pant said, “Pretty confident, we know this is a good wicket to bat on. Happy to either bat or bowl first. Definitely, as I said in the last few games, we have a lot to play for. Aiden (Markram) is not there because he has gone (home) for his personal thing. Badoni comes in for Aiden. And just one more, Shami is not playing and Mohsin is playing”.
Markram has struggled to perform at his best in IPL 2026, failing to hit any half-centuries. He has scored 231 runs in 12 games at an average of 25.67, with a highest score of 45 runs.
Shami has also struggled to make a mark in the tournament but was part of all the previous games. In 12 matches, he has picked 10 wickets at an economy of 8.80.
