CSK lost their first three games in the tournament. In their previous clash, they outplayed Delhi Capitals (DC) to bag their first victory of the season. Sanju Samson slammed a century to help them post a mammoth total in the first innings.
Speaking about KKR, they have not won any games in IPL 2026 so far. Out of four games, they have lost three, while one match was abandoned due to rain. While CSK are placed in the ninth spot in the points table with two points, KKR languish at the bottom with just 1 point.
Why is MS Dhoni not part of CSK’s playing XI vs KKR?

In match 22 of IPL 2026, KKR won the toss and opted to field first. MS Dhoni is still absent from CSK’s playing XI. He was also not part of the previous four games of the tournament.
Just ahead of IPL 2026, Dhoni suffered a calf injury in the pre-season training sessions. As a result, he was ruled out of the initial games of the tournament.
The CSK management had informed that Dhoni would miss the first two weeks due to the injury. He has commenced his practice sessions with the team. There were reports that Dhoni would play in the clash against KKR, but it did not happen.
Dhoni and Dewald Brevis were two batters who missed the initial games. However, Brevis returned in the previous game after recovering from a side strain.
