Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has reached the halfway stage with a majority of teams playing seven games. Mumbai Indians (MI) are one among them, but they are struggling big time IPL 2026, with just two wins out of seven.
They commenced the tournament with a victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the first game, but lost four games in a row after that. They bounced back with a huge victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the sixth clash of IPL 2026, and it seemed that their campaign would be back on track.
The five-time champions clashed with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their previous game at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK opener Sanju Samson rocked with his performance, smacking an unbeaten century, which helped the side post a total of 207.
It was expected that MI would come up with a strong fight, but they got folded for just 104 runs and lost the game by a massive margin of 103 runs. The Hardik Pandya & Co. need to bounce back in the tournament; otherwise, it will be very difficult for them to make it into playoffs.
After their loss to CSK, MI surprised many as all the players travelled to Jamnagar in Gujarat. Notably, they played their last game in Mumbai and will also play their next game at same venue.
Why did MI players go to Jamnagar amid IPL 2026?

Notably, Mumbai will play their next game after a break of five days. They are scheduled to clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 29 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hence, they went to Jamnagar for a short break. They will stay there for a few days and relax before resuming their campaign in the tournament.
Meanwhile, none of the MI batters has been able to come up with a consistent show with no one crossing 200-run mark. Tilak Varma has scored a century and is the leading run-scorer with 181 runs.
Among bowlers, Allah Ghazanfar is the leading wicket-taker with eight scalps, while prominent names like Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Hardik Pandya have struggled to take wickets consistently.
