Nitish Kumar Reddy has played 7 T20Is for India.

The stage for the first game of the five-time T20I series between India and the West Indies is set. The two sides are facing each other at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Shreyas Iyer won the toss as the Men in Blue will bowl against their Caribbean opponents.

India secured a resounding 2-1 series triumph over the West Indies in their recent ODI series. They won the two initial games, courtesy of memorable centuries from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. However, Shai Hope’s gritty innings in the final ODI saved the visitors from a 3-1 whitewash. Hope guided the Caribbean side towards their only win of the series, putting an end to KL Rahul’s century celebrations.

Nevertheless, it’s time to move to fast-paced action, which is only offered in T20 cricket. The Indian T20I team has returned from a successful defence of the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi, Nagoya, Japan.

For the five-match series against the West Indies, the majority of the team has been kept the same as the one that travelled to Japan; however, a few players who also played in the ODI against the West Indies have been included. Such players are Nitish Kumar Reddy and Kuldeep Yadav. And Nitish Kumar Reddy is missing the first game of the T20I series. Thus, take a look at the reason he is missing the game.

Nitish Kumar Reddy will miss the first T20I between India and the West Indies because he was a part of the recently concluded three-match ODI series between the two sides. The Men in Blue do not want to risk the all-rounder’s fitness by making him play consecutive games.

Reddy has solidified his spot as an all-format player for the Indian team; thus, his fitness becomes a top priority for the side. He played two games for India in the series against the West Indies. He did not get to bat in the opening game, which took place in Thivuvantapumam, but he took one wicket while conceding 45 runs.

In the final game of the series in New Chandigarh, he scored 9 tons and failed to take any wickets. The 23-year-old did not enjoy his run against the Caribbean side; however, much better performances are expected of him in the coming games.

When did Nitish Kumar Reddy play his last game?

He played his game on October 3 against the West Indies, scoring 9 runs.

Will he play in the remaining games of the series?

He is likely to feature in the remaining games against the West Indies.
