Pat Cummins has not played any games for SRH in IPL 2026 so far.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are clashing with Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 31 of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Tuesday, April 21. The encounter is taking place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
While SRH grab the fourth spot in the points table, DC follow them in fifth spot. Both teams have six points each; however, Delhi (5) have played one match less than Sunrisers (6).
In match 31 of IPL 2026, DC won the toss and opted to field first. Pat Cummins is absent from SRH’s playing XI in the encounter. He has not played any match yet in the current edition.
Why is Pat Cummins not part of SRH’s playing XI vs DC?
Cummins has recently recovered from a lumbar stress back injury and joined the SRH squad. Although he is not playing tonight’s match, he is expected to play in the next match. He suffered the injury during Australia’s tour of West Indies in July last year.
He last played in the Ashes 2025-26. He featured in one game but was later ruled out as his injury resurfaced. He also missed the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026.
Cummins joined the SRH squad ahead of IPL 2026, but he missed the initial games. Hence, Ishan Kishan has been leading the team in his absence.
He travelled to Australia in the first week of April for a final assessment of his back injury. The test was conducted by Cricket Australia (CA) on April 16, and Cummins successfully cleared it. He travelled back to India a few days ago and has joined the SRH camp.
At the start of the tournament, Cummins had informed that he would play in the latter half of the tournament and the playoffs.
