Prasidh Krishna was part of GT’s previous game against RCB.
In match 37 of the Indian Premier League 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on Gujarat Titans (GT) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both teams have an equal six points in their kitty.
GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first in the clash. At the toss, he informed that they have made one change to their playing XI. Notably, pacer Prasidh Krishna was not part of the encounter.
The right-arm pacer played in the previous game against RCB. He has shown an impressive form so far in IPL 2026, clinching 12 wickets in seven games. It is quite surprising that despite not having any injury, he is not part of the current match.
Why is Prasidh Krishna not part of GT’s playing XI vs CSK?

Notably, Titans have replaced Krishna with pacer Arshad Khan in the encounter. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj are the other two pacers in their playing XI.
Gill did not reveal the exact reason behind Krishna’s absence in this match. However, it looks like he has been dropped due to his struggles in the previous game against RCB.
The right-arm pacer remained wicketless in his two overs and was too expensive by leaking 31 runs. While he failed to make a mark in the previous game, he has done a commendable job throughout the tournament so far.
Moreover, Arshad Khan has not played any games for GT in IPL 2026 so far. GT retained him for INR 1.30 crore. He has taken 12 wickets in 19 matches after making his IPL debut in the 2023 season.
Speaking at the toss, Gill said, “If the wicket is well, get 70-80 in the powerplay, get as many actually in the powerplay but it’s very important to assess the conditions and if the wicket is a 170-180 wicket, really you got to assess that as well because I think at the end of the day, it’s important to play the conditions rather than something that has not happened. One change, Arshad is coming back in the squad”.
On his decision to bowl first, he said, “We’re gonna bowl first. It looks like a good wicket. On a wicket like this, it’s good to have a total on the board. Actually, not that bad. A good bit of breeze going on, so hopefully it wouldn’t be too tough on our bowlers”.
