The Indian Cricket Team is in Zimbabwe for a T20I series. The third and the final match of the tour is being played on July 26, 2026, at Harare Sports Club, Harare. India have already sealed the series with wins in the first two matches.
Shreyas Iyer-led Indian side entered this series with consecutive series defeats against Ireland and England. The management even rested many T20I regulars for this tour, like Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel.
The Men in Blue won the first encounter by 7 wickets, while the second game was complete annihilation, winning by 90 runs. So far, Ishan Kishan has amassed the most runs in the two matches (116), and Prince Yadav has claimed most wickets (4).
Indian pacers Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur made their debut in the series. Thakur claimed two wickets in the second match. A concerning news regarding another Indian speedster has disturbed the Indian camp.
Why did Prince Yadav miss ZIM vs IND 3rd T20I?
After his breakthrough Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, he earned his maiden ODI and T20I call-ups. Prince Yadav had debuted for India in T20Is against Ireland on June 28. He claimed three wickets on his debut.
He was entering this Zimbabwe series after a forgettable 5th T20I against England, where he conceded 60 runs in four overs without picking any wickets. But he looked completely different in this series.
Yadav claimed two wickets in the first T20I against Zimbabwe giving merely 19 runs in four overs. Additionally, in the second T20I, he picked two more wickets, in his 8 deliveries.
However, what followed that was a hamstring injury, which forced him to leave the field mid-innings. He could not complete his over, and was eventually even ruled out of the third T20I. Ashok Sharma replaced him in the team for the 3rd match.
BCCI released a statement on his injury, saying he was unavailable for selection in the final match of the series, due to his hamstring niggle.
Prince looked a bright prospect amidst the already depleting Indian pace-reserves. He did well against Afghanistan in the ODIs and looked promising in T20Is. His injury would invite concerns over the management of players in the squad. He is also in the 16-member squad for the Asian Games.
