Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are clashing with Delhi Capitals (DC) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 tonight at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Axar Patel & Co. suffered a humiliating defeat against the Punjab Kings in their previous game, failing to defend their gigantic 264-run total.
The Shreyas Iyer & Co. chased the target to script a historic victory in the tournament. DC come into the clash low on confidence, but they would be hoping to make a comeback, especially with them registering six-wicket win over RCB in the last clash between the two teams.
In match 39 of IPL 2026, RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first. Notably, opening batter Phil Salt is not part of RCB’s playing XI as he is still recovery from an injury. Jacob Bethell will open the batting with Kohli once again. They have opted for the same team.
Moreover, Capitals made a few changes to their playing XI. To begin with, Lungi Ngidi was unavailable for the clash. Mukesh Kumar and Pathun Nissanka were not part of the match. Dushmantha Chameera, Kyle Jamieson, and Sahil Parekh were added to the playing XI, meaning that Prithvi Shaw had to bench once again.
Why is Prithvi Shaw not playing DC vs RCB game of IPL 2026?

Notably, DC have preferred Sahil Parekh as an opener in the clash, who is making his IPL debut. They dropped Nissanka but overlooked Prithvi Shaw as his replacement. Shaw has not played any games in IPL 2026 so far, but has been part of the squad from the start of season.
Speaking at the toss about playing XI, Axar Patel said: “The changes are because of what happened to Lungi in the last match with the concussion, so we are adding a fast bowler. Also, since we can play four overseas players, we felt that taking wickets in the powerplay is very important, which we’ve seen in recent matches.
We gave Mukesh Kumar enough chances – he did well in a couple of games – but sometimes it’s important to give a break. So we want to use the experience of an international bowler with the new ball, which is why we are going with Kyle Jamieson. And because of that, we are trying Sahil Fark as an opener”.
