Chennai Super Kings (CSK) leg-spinner Rahul Chahar announced separation with Ishani Johar through a social media post ahead of the IPL 2026.
Indian leg-spinner Rahul Chahar surprised many when, through a social media post, he announced separation from his wife, Ishani Johar. The leg-spinner posted a long message on Instagram and confirmed his divorce after almost 4 years of his marriage.
Chahar, who is one of the finest spinners in Indian cricket, and Johar got married in Goa on March 9, 2022. The Indian spinner was just 22 at that time and was at the peak of his powers, being regular in India’s XI in T20Is. Along with that, he also was at his best in the IPL.
However, after initial success, he was sidelined from the Indian side and also his performances faded away in IPL. And now, him announcing divorce, things surely won’t be easy for him personally as well professionally.

Chahar, while announcing his separation, gave a subtle hint that he was unhappy in his marriage and wasn’t valued enough, which was the main reason why he gave divorce to Ishani.
“I entered marriage at a young age, before I fully understood myself, my worth, or the life I truly wanted to build. What followed were years of lessons I never expected, and the last fifteen months spent navigating courtrooms, learning patience, resilience, and the strength that some from in truth.”

Chahar, although accepting that it won’t be an end, further stating that he is looking to stand on “self-respect, peace, and better choices.”
Chahar will now look to prepare himself for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will be playing for. Chennai Super Kings. The leg-spinner was roped in by five-time champions for INR 5.20 Crore in the accelerated process of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, after going unsold in the initial auction.
Before this, Chahar was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and will look to revive his career in the Yellow Army.
