Rohit Sharma recently featured for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

The city of dreams, Mumbai, hosts its domestic T20 league from 1st June to 13th June, where eight teams compete over 13 days to win the T20 Mumbai League. In 2026, the fourth season of the league is being played. This year also marks the inaugural season of the Women’s T20 Mumbai league.

Mumbai has been the factory for production of few of India’s greatest cricketers emerging from the Shivaji Park establishing Indian cricket on the world map. The likes of Polly Umrigar, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Vijay Merchant, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rohit Sharma and many such have made it to the biggest stage.

Rohit Sharma, who is only player who was a part of the Indian side of 2007 and 2024 ICC World T20 winning teams, also played a massive part in Mumbai’s success both at domestic level as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He has been the joint-most successful captain in the IPL, leading Mumbai Indians (MI) to five title. He has been IPL’s second highest run scorer with more than 6500 runs.

Rohit Sharma also is also among India‘s one of the most successful captains, bringing glory to the country by winning the ICC World T20 Cup (2024) and ICC Champions Trophy (2025) in a span of 9 months.

Rohit is the brand ambassador and the face of the T20 Mumbai League. He was also seen recently in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians.

However, in IPL 2026, Rohit could feature in only 9 matches, due to a hamstring injury. He scored 283 runs this season striking above 155. His injury was the main reason why the fans could not see more of Rohit in this edition’s IPL.

The reason behind him not playing T20 Mumbai League could be potentially due to his injury and also the fact that he is an ambassador of the league, he would not want to ply his trade in league.

Rohit will be in action in the ODI series against Afghanistan, subject to his fitness. He would want some rest ahead of the series to recover from injury. He will hold key for India as they prepare for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
