Why did Rohit Sharma & Quinton de Kock miss MI vs SRH clash of IPL 2026?

Rohit Sharma has played four games for MI in IPL 2026.

Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are clashing in Match 41 of the Indian Premier League 2026, which got underway on April 29 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai, led by Hardik Pandya, will look for a strong comeback after facing a big defeat in their previous game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). After a long break of almost a week, Hardik Pandya & Co. will leave no stone unturned to showcase a better form in the second half of IPL 2026.

MI‘s two victories out of seven games came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT). They have a strong challenge against SRH, who have been unbeaten in the previous four games.

Sunrisers have a strong batting lineup: Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen and Travis Head. On the other hand, Eshan Malinga, Praful Hinge, and Sakib Hussain have been impressive in the bowling. Pat Cummins returned in the previous game and has taken the reins of the side from Kishan.

Notably, Rohit Sharma is recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained in an earlier clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

He was injured while batting in the second innings and had to retire hurt midway. He did not resume his batting later. The MI opener made a brilliant start to the tournament with a half-century in the opening game. Featuring in four games, he has scored 137 runs at a strike rate of 165.06.

After Rohit’s ouster, Quinton de Kock was picked as an opener in an earlier clash against the Punjab Kings, and he scored a century in a losing cause. He has played three matches so far but will miss tonight’s match due to a wrist injury.

Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first in the MI vs SRH clash. At the toss, he said that they had made two changes in the playing XI. Ryan Rickelton and Robin Minz were added to the playing XI in place of De Kock and Sherfane Rutherford.

Speaking about the playing XI at the toss, he said,: “We will bat first. Looks like a good pitch, it’s breezy and a bit cold. I don’t think dew will be a factor. It was important for us to reset and not get too complicated, we had a couple of good boys’ evenings and a couple of net sessions.

Now ready for the game. Mitchell was unfortunate, as was Quinny today, he had a wrist injury. There are a couple of changes: Rickelton comes in, Minz is in. Rohit will need a couple more games, he’s trying, but it’s not up to the mark. I want to play the best cricket I know as well.
