Ryan Rickelton also missed MI’s last game against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026.
Mumbai Indians (MI) are up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 33rd game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The match between two teams is taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 23.
The Hardik Pandya & Co, after four losses in a row, made a strong comeback against Gujarat Titans (GT), and registered a 99-run win. On the other hand, CSK are coming into the clash on the back of loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both the teams are in the bottom half of points table and would be keen to get two points.
In the match 33 of IPL 2026, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first. They did not make any changes to their playing XI, which meant that Ryan Ricketton yet again missed out.
Why is Ryan Rickelton not playing MI vs CSK game of IPL 2026?

Rickelton was dropped from the side in the last game and was replaced by Danish Malewar. The southpaw played first five games in IPL 2026. He slammed a marvellous half-century in the opening game but struggled to replicate his performance in rest of the games, registering the scores of 9, 8, 37, and 2 in the next clashes.
Notably, since Quinton de Kock scored a century against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and is also a wicket-keeper batter like Rickelton, MI have preferred De Kock in the clash. Dropping Ryan also enabled them to balance their overseas limit in the playing XI.
