Shan Masood played a vital role for Pakistan in first WI vs PAK Test.

West Indies stunned Pakistan in the first Test in Trinidad and recorded a 90-run win. This was their only second win in 11 tests, and they took a 1-0 unbeatable lead in the ongoing series. It was also Pakistan‘s 8th straight defeat in this format.

They changed the captaincy and gave it to Babar Azam, who recorded a fighting half-century in the second innings but didn’t get much support from other batters. It was a poor batting display by Pakistan where they failed to form enough partnerships.

For West Indies, Justin Greaves was superb and took seven wickets with the bat. For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas took 8 wickets in the game. The second Test is underway at the Port of Spain. West Indian won the toss and elected to bat first.

West Indies have gone unchanged and kept the same combination for the second Test. Pakistan have made four changes to their playing XI. One of the biggest names to miss the Test from Pakistan is former captain Shan Masood.

Pakistan have made big changes to their bowling unit. Aamer Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Abbas have been dropped, and they are replaced by Awais Zafar, Sajid Khan, and Ubaid Shah. Among these Zafar and Ubaid are making their Test debuts.

But the big name that was missing was Shan Masood. The former captain scored the most runs in the first Test from either side. He was the only centurion in the game. Shan scored 109 off 184 balls in the first innings for Pakistan.

Unfortunately, he sustained an injury to his index figure while batting in the first innings as a quick delivery from Jayden Seales hit him. The scan confirmed a fracture to his finger. Despite that, he came out to bat in the second innings.

Though he didn’t do much in the second innings and scored 3 off 15, but he received a lot of appreciation for his bravery. After the game, the PCB confirmed that Masood would not take part in the second innings.

As a result, Abdullah Shafique got his chance. Shafique has been added to the playing XI for the second Test and will bat at No. 3 for Pakistan. Babar Azam and co. are in search of their first win for a long time. They also need a win to avoid the series whitewash.
