Shimron Hetmyer was part of RR’s previous game in IPL 2026.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are squaring off in match 21 of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Monday, April 13. The venue of the clash is the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Rajasthan take the top spot in the IPL 2026 points table with eight points. They have won four games in a row. On the other hand, SRH take the seventh spot with just one victory and three defeats out of four clashes.
RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to field first in the clash. At the toss, he informed that star player Shimron Hetmyer was not part of the match. He was part of the playing XI in the previous game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Why is Shimron Hetmyer not part of RR’s playing XI vs SRH?
Parag informed that Hetmyer was rested for the clash. Lhuan-dre Pretorius has replaced him in the match and will make his IPL debut. Moreover, Tushar Deshpande replaced Brijesh in the playing XI.
Speaking at the toss, Parag said, “We’ll be bowling first. A new wicket for us, first time it’s been used this season as well. So hopefully there’s a little bit of stickiness at the start. We’ve chased down a lot of totals here. We’ve got two changes. Brijesh steps out and Tushar Deshpande comes in. Hetty gets a rest and Pretorius makes his debut. It’s been a journey”.
Notably, Hetmyer featured in all four previous games. He registered scores of 18, 6*, and 0 in the three games he batted. Meanwhile, SRH also made two changes to their playing XI.
“We’ve got two changes from the last game, Hinge coming in. I think I’ve been doing this for a long time. I was a leader in Under-19 India, I’ve been doing it for my state team, and I think it makes you more aware of the situation, more focused on the game,” Ishan said at the toss.
SRH Playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan(w/c), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora, Aniket Verma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harsh Dubey, Shivang Kumar, Praful Hinge, Eshan Malinga.
