Mumbai Indians (MI) are taking on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 24th game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at Wankhede Stadium on April 16. MI enter the clash under pressure and are eager for a victory after losing three games in a row.
Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field first in the encounter. They went ahead with the same combination, backing the players who have done well for them.
On the other hand, MI captain Hardik Pandya revealed that they have made a few changes. Overseas members Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult were not picked for the clash. Rohit Sharma missed the game due to a hamstring injury and Quinton de Kock was added as a replacement.

Pandya informed that Santner was not well and could not play in the clash. Boult had to sit out due to team combination and was replaced by Deepak Chahar. Since MI added overseas player Quinton de Kock as Rohit’s replacement, they had to bench Boult.
Speaking about their playing XI at the toss, Hardik said, “Yeah, Rohit is out from the last game. He’s gonna take a couple of games for him to see how exactly where he is. And Mitchell is unwell as well. So Mitchell Santner also is not available. So, yeah, we got a couple of changes. Quinny comes back and we have a debutant, Mayank Rawat”.
Boult has played in three games so far in IPL 2026 but hasn’t been quite successful. He has picked only one wicket. In the previous clash against RCB, he was too expensive and conceded 50 runs in his spell. Santner was picked in two games against RCB and DC. He picked up one wicket each in both games.
