Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are squaring off in match 16 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. While RR are playing their fourth game, RCB are featuring in their third game of the IPL 2026.
The toss in Guwahati Stadium was delayed by one hour due to rain and took place at 8 PM. The coin fell in favour of Riyan Parag, who opted to field first. He was also quick to inform that RR have made one change to their XI.
Brijesh Sharma was added into the side in place of Tushar Deshpande, who bowled a match winning over against Gujarat Titans. RCB also made one change to their playing XI. Due to Josh Hazlewood’s return, Jacob Duffy was benched for the game.
Why is Tushar Deshpande not playing of RR vs RCB clash of IPL 2026?
Notably, RR have rested Deshpande for the clash. Hence, it was the tactical decision by the team. However, Tushar is one of the impact players and can play if the need arises.
Speaking at the toss, Parag said, “We’re going to be bowling. It was supposed to be a dry wicket, but it has been raining for the last couple of days and rained a bit today as well. So there’s going to be a little moisture. We’re trying to extract it, but seems like a really good wicket. Tushar takes a rest and Brijesh comes in”.
Rajat Patidar said that Josh Hazlewood’s addition is likely to strengthen their bowling unit.
“This is our first away game. Thanks to everyone. I think you are making us feel that it’s already our home ground. So we all love you. Unfortunately, Duffy misses out in this game. Josh in the place of Duffy. Duffy also bowled brilliantly in the last game. But everyone knows Josh is an experienced player, specialist. But I think his presence will definitely put us in a good frame of mind, I think,” he said.
It remains to be seen which team’s winning run ends today.
