Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his debut for India against England in 2026.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s absence from India’s U19 squad for the upcoming Australia series has understandably caught attention.
The teenage batter has been one of India’s most talked-about youngsters following his rise in Indian cricket through different age groups, even at the senior international level.
The left-hander has already experienced an extraordinary 2026 season, and he was part of India‘s victorious U19 World Cup.
He was subsequently named in the ICC’s Team of the Tournament for his 175-run knock in the final against England. His rapid rise helped him secure a spot in India’s senior men’s team, and he made his debut against England in 2026.
Therefore, an omission from the Indian U19 squad for their upcoming series against Australia might have seemed surprising.
Particularly with India preparing for a series against Australia during the Asian Games, it is understandable why the Indian selectors made that decision. Hence, the reason is linked to his other international commitments at that same time.

The series between Australia U19 and India U19 will begin on September 18, with matches scheduled for September 21 and 23. Subsequently, two multi-day matches will be played between September 27–30 and October 5–8.
During that time, the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games will also be played starting on September 24, as India are seeded straight into the semi-finals.
