Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are squaring off in the 58th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 on May 14. MI stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and opted to field first. The encounter is taking place at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
While the Punjab Kings are still alive in the race for the playoffs, MI have been eliminated from the tournament. PBKS take the fourth spot in the points table, and MI are placed ninth.
Notably, MI captain Hardik Pandya is missing his third consecutive game due to a back spasm. Suryakumar Yadav is also absent from the clash due to personal reasons.
On the other hand, Punjab made a few changes to their playing XI. Pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak is not part of the playing XI once again.

Notably, Vyshak was named one of the impact substitutes. However, Shreyas Iyer & Co. used Vishnu Vinod as an impact player in the first innings due to their batting struggles. Vyshak last played in the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 6.
The right-arm pacer has played nine games in IPL 2026 so far, clinching nine wickets at an economy of 10.85. He impressed with his performances in the initial games but emerged expensive in recent clashes.
Speaking at the toss, Iyer said, “We’ve got a phenomenal start and majority of them have been in great shape and positive mindset. That’s all we have to think about and going forward in this game, we have to be proactive in our approach and see to it that we show the best character possible. (Changes?) Harpreet Brar, Xavier Bartlett and Azmatullah Omarzai come in”.
Although PBKS are among the strongest sides this season, they have heavily struggled in recent games. They have lost four games in a row and aim for a big comeback against Mumbai.
