Virat Kohli is leading Royal Challengers Bangalore today against PBKS instead of regular captain Faf du Plessis.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will repeat what Mumbai Indians did against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023. RCB have given Faf du Plessis a rest from fielding due to injury concerns from the last game. RCB will be using Faf as an Impact player and will come out to bat. In place of him, Virat Kohli will be leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore side against Punjab Kings at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Previously, Mumbai Indians used the same strategy against KKR with Rohit Sharma.

RCB will use Faf du Plessis as an Impact player

Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan is also missing out on the action due to an injury. Sam Curran is leading Punjab Kings once again. Punjab Kings have won the toss and have decided to put RCB batters or a test on the Mohali wicket. Faf du Plessis will be batting but will not field. RCB's stand-in captain, Virat Kohli in the toss informed, “Faf potentially can’t be fielding today. So he will be playing as an Impact player switching with Vyshak Vijayakumar". Plessis had some injury concerns against Chennai Super Kings.

One of the IPL’s biggest stars, Virat Kohli gave up RCB captaincy just before the IPL 2022. Faf du Plessis was appointed as full-time captain of the team. RCB qualified for playoffs but lost to Rajasthan Royals in the qualifier 2 last season. RCB have suffered a few close losses in the IPL 2023. They lost to Chennai Super Kings in their previous game at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

This game will also see a good battle with the ball and bat. Punjab’s pacer Arshdeep Singh will put some challenges against Virat Kohli. Virat has been struggling to score against Left arm pace bowlers recently. In good news for Punjab Kings, their X-factor all-rounder Liam Livingstone is back in the playing XI.
