The Indian Cricket Team are now looking ahead to some important cricket assignments. With the 2027 ODI World Cup getting closer, the team management and selectors are working on the right combination.
However, injuries have made things difficult for India in recent months. The team has often missed key players, especially in the bowling department. This has also made it harder to give the same players a long run and build a settled team.
India’s recent ODI series against the West Indies also showed the impact of these problems. Several players were unavailable, giving other players a chance to play. But with the World Cup approaching, India will need more clarity about the fitness of their main players.
VVS Laxman to attend every selection meeting to avoid any confusion between the selectors & CoE

The BCCI is now making a change to help the selectors get better information about player fitness. VVS Laxman, who heads the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, will now attend every senior selection meeting.
VVS Laxman had already attended the recent meeting where India’s T20I and India A squads were picked. The BCCI has now decided that he will be present in all senior selection meetings from now on.
The main reason is to avoid any confusion between the selectors and the Centre of Excellence. The CoE keeps track of injured players and their recovery. Laxman can therefore give the selectors direct updates about the players.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia explained the reason behind the decision.
“VVS Laxman will henceforth attend all senior selection committee meetings to ensure there is no miscommunication between selectors and the COE,” Saikia told PTI.
The decision is mainly about getting correct information before picking the squad. The selectors need to know when an injured player is expected to return and whether he is ready to play.
Saikia also said that the move is not about making the selection process more transparent. The main aim is to make sure the selectors have the right information.
“The move is intended to ensure there is no miscommunication and selectors get accurate information to make right decisions,” Saikia said.
