Will Jacks has not played any games in IPL 2026 so far.
Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are taking on each other in the Indian Premier League 2026 on April 20. GT’s home ground, Narendra Modi Stadium, is the venue of the clash.
Shubman Gill & Co. have been in fabulous form, winning their three previous games. At the start, GT lost two games in a row.
On the other hand, the Hardik Pandya-led side will aim for a big comeback in the clash. They have lost their last four games. They are currently placed last in the points table.
In the GT vs MI clash, Gujarat won the toss and opted to field first. Notably, Will Jacks is again not part of Mumbai’s playing 11. The England all-rounder has not played any matches in the tournament so far.
Why is Will Jacks absent from MI’s playing XI vs GT?
Jacks is yet to join the MI squad for IPL 2026. The England all-rounder was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2026 edition. Due to a busy international schedule ahead of the IPL, he asked for an extended break to spend time with his family.
Ahead of the IPL 2026, Jacks featured for England in The Ashes 2025-26 from November to January. He was also part of England’s white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. Later, he played in the T20 World Cup 2026 from February to March, where England qualified for the semi-finals but lost to India.
Jacks gave a brilliant performance in the T20 World Cup, winning four Player of the Match awards. He also played a crucial role in England’s victories in the Super Eight Round. Jacks is expected to join the MI squad for IPL 2026 soon.
Head coach Mahela Jayawardene mentioned in his pre-match press conference that Jacks will soon join the team; however, there is no clarity on his exact joining date.
