Why did Will Jacks miss RR vs MI clash in IPL 2026?

Will Jacks was absent from MI’s previous two games in IPL 2026.

The 13th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 is being played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday, April 7.

RR, led by Riyan Parag, have won two games in a row against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. They have four points in their kitty. MI started their campaign with a victory against KKR but lost to the Delhi Capitals in their previous game.

In match 13, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first. While Hardik Pandya returned to captain MI in the clash after missing the previous game, England all-rounder Will Jacks is still absent from the playing XI. He did not play in the previous two games.

Why is Will Jacks absent from MI’s playing XI vs RR?

Notably, Will Jacks is yet to arrive in India to join the MI squad for the IPL 2026. Will had requested an extended break from MI management, which was granted to him.

After a lengthy T20 World Cup 2026 in India in February and March, Jacks needed more time to spend with his family. MI retained him for 5.25 crore for IPL 2026.

Jacks was a stand-out performer for England in the T20 World Cup, winning 4 Player of the Match awards. He also played a crucial role in England’s three victories in the Super Eight Round. England reached the semi-final of the tournament, losing to India by seven runs in a high-scoring clash.

Meanwhile, MI have been boosted with the arrival of New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner. Like Jacks, he too asked for an extended break. He was part of the playing XI in the previous game against Delhi.
