The last time the hosts won a series against Pakistan was in 2000. Since then, the two sides have played 8 series, and Pakistan emerged victorious in four of them, while others were drawn.
The Pakistan Cricket Board made some tough calls for this series. They left out Shaheen Shah Afridi from the 16-member squad, and also made a notable captaincy change. They received a blow ahead of the match as Abdullah Fazal was ruled out of the series due to his acute lower back injury during a training session.
Currently, Pakistan are ranked ninth on the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table, while West Indies are eighth. Babar Azam and Roston Chase are the two captains leading their respective sides.
