In the first T20I, South Africa scored 174/7 in 20 overs with help of 76 from Tristan Stubbs and 44 from Patrick Kruger after being asked to bat first by the hosts. For the hosts, Matthew Forde bagged three wickets.
While chasing, Men in Maroon openers Alick Athanaze (40) and Shai Hope (51) provided the hosts a solid opening stand of 84 runs. Later on, wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran’s 26-ball 65* helped the West Indies chase down the target in 17.5 overs.
After losing the opening T20I, the Aiden Markram-led South Africa will be aiming to bounce back in the ongoing three-match series. Hosts West Indies will be aiming to defeat Proteas and take an unassailable lead of 2-0.
