South Africa Cricket Team all-rounder Wiaan Mulder achieved a massive feat in the history of test cricket. He became the first ever batter in the longest format of the game to score a triple century on his captaincy debut.

Wiaan Mulder achieved the feat in the ongoing second test of the series between the Zimbabwe Cricket Team and the South Africa Cricket Team. The game between the two teams is taking place at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Wiaan Mulder, who was handed the test captaincy of the team for the ongoing second game in the absence of Keshav Maharaj, took the responsibility brilliantly. The all-rounder oozed his class with the bat, and his innings came at a time when his team was under pressure.

South Africa lost both the openers early and were left reeling at 24/2. However, Wiaan Mulder took the onus on himself and played his best test innings. The all-rounder first slammed a brilliant century, but he didn’t stop there as he kept making a mockery of the Zimbabwe bowlers.

Wiaan Mulder then hit a sensational ton and converted that into a triple ton. With the feat, he also became the first batter in the history of the game to slam a triple century on his captaincy debut.

Wiaan Mulder registers highest individual score by a South African batter in test cricket

Not only this, after he surpassed 315 runs, Mulder registered the highest individual score by a South African batter in the longest format of the game. He surpassed Hashim Amla’s 311* against the England Cricket Team at The Oval in 2012 to etch his name in the record books.

Mulder kept belting the Zimbabwe bowlers as he then slammed 350, becoming just the seventh player in history to score 350 in tests. He has looked in sublime form and has played the best innings by the Proteas batter in the longest format of the game, taking his team’s total past 600 runs.

Note: At the time of writing, Mulder is still at the crease on 366*.
