Cameron Green was seen bowling in Kolkata Knight Riders’ net practice ahead of KKR vs SRH clash in IPL 2026.

Cameron Green, who was bought for a record ₹25.20 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, was not seen bowling in Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) first game of the season against Mumbai Indians (MI). KKR posted a huge total of 220 runs batting first, but MI chased it down in 19.1 overs, with none of the bowlers looking effective.

This raised questions about why their most expensive player wasn’t given the ball. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane took a jibe at Cricket Australia when asked about it in the post-match press conference, which became the massive controversy.

When asked about Green not bowling, Rahane said: “That question you need to ask Cricket Australia.” Following this, Cricket Australia issued a clarification, stating that Green had been dealing with a lower back injury. Although he has recovered, he is gradually building up his bowling workload before returning fully.

Reports suggest that Green could be ready to bowl in matches in around 10–12 days, and the KKR management is fully aware of the situation. Recently, in a video posted by KKR on social media, the Australian all-rounder was seen bowling in the nets, giving hope to fans that he may soon return to bowling in match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Even though Cameron Green was seen bowling in the nets, it is still not confirmed whether he will bowl in the KKR vs SRH match. The KKR bowlers did not have a great outing in the first game against MI, but they will be eager to perform better in the upcoming matches.

If they fail again, the need to use Green as an additional bowling option will become even more important. Green has taken 16 wickets across the two IPL seasons he played before this, representing Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He provides the option of an extra bowler who can chip in effectively with the ball.

The recent development of seeing him bowl in the nets may give both fans and the management some relief, but they will still have to wait for clearance from Cricket Australia.

KKR’s next game is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 2nd April, and both teams are coming into the match after losing their opening games.

SRH suffered a defeat to RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where their bowling was exposed, while KKR faced a similar situation against MI at the Wankhede Stadium. Both teams will be eager to bounce back, secure a win, and open their account in the tournament.
