Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are clashing with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 63rd match of the Indian Premier League 2026 tonight. The encounter is taking place at the CSK’s home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bat first in the encounter. Both teams are active in the race for the playoffs.
While SRH take the third spot in the points table, CSK are placed in fifth place. Hyderabad have won seven games and lost five out of 12 matches. Chennai have won six games and lost six.
It is a crucial game for Sunrisers as they can book a berth in the playoffs by beating Chennai. If they win the match, Gujarat Titans (GT) will also qualify for the playoffs with them. Moreover, if CSK defeat SRH, it will boost their chances of reaching the playoffs.
Will CSK get eliminated if they lose against SRH tonight?
No, the Men-in-Yellow will not be officially eliminated if they lose against SRH tonight. However, their defeat will diminish their chances of reaching the playoffs. Later, Super Kings will have to win their last match and need other results to fall in their favour for a spot in the top four.
If CSK lose, RCB, GT, and SRH will confirm their berth in the playoffs. No teams will be immediately eliminated but the results of the upcoming matches will end the journey of a few teams.
On the other hand, if Chennai win the clash, they will move one step closer to the playoffs. They will jump to the fourth spot in the points table. They will still need to win their last match against Gujarat Titans and need a few results to be in their favour.
So far, only RCB have qualified for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have been eliminated. The remaining seven teams are still active in the playoffs race.
