England thrashed Pakistan by massive margin in 1st Test.

The England Cricket Team completely dismantled the Pakistan in the first Test match of the ongoing series. Pakistan, batting first, were bundled out for 171 runs, and in response, the hosts made 409 runs, gaining a lead of 238 runs. The visitors, in the third innings, got all out at the score of just 135 runs, giving England an easy win by an innings and 130 runs.

Ollie Robinson was awarded the Man of the Match for his eight wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul in first innings. With England winning this match comfortably, the chances are that they might whitewash Pakistan at home.

The Indian Cricket Team, who is currently playing against Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series, also won their first Test by 165 runs and strengthened their chances of making it into the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27Final. India are still currently in fifth position in the WTC points table, and they will need to win most of their matches to be in the top two, which will guarantee them a spot in the final.

However, the fans are wondering if England’s dominating win over Pakistan in the first Test at Headingley have decreased India’s chances of making it into the top two of the points table.

Can England’s dominance over Pakistan hurt India’s chances of reaching the WTC Final?

India have eight more matches left in this ICC WTC cycle, and they include one match against Sri Lanka, two against New Zealand, and five against Australia. While the Sri Lanka and New Zealand series are away from home, India will welcome Australia to their soil for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In the last cycle, the second finalist finished with a win percentage of 67.54%. India are currently at 53.33%, and they need to win most of their matches to make sure they qualify for the top two positions.

England, however, are below India in the WTC points table, as they are sitting in seventh position with a 29.76% win percentage. England have no practical chances of making it to the WTC 2025–27 Final, which will be held at The Oval in England.

They have only five games remaining, and even if they manage to win all five of their matches, they will end around 50%, which is not enough to make it to the ICC WTC Final.

The Indian team will have a very minimal effect on the results of the England team. They might finish lower if they lose matches, but it won’t affect their chances of making it into the top two of the WTC points table.

When is the World Test Championship 2025-2027 Final?

The World Test Championship 2025–27 Final is scheduled to be played from June 9 to June 13, 2027, at The Oval in London, England.

Does England have any realistic chance of making the WTC 2027 Final?

No. England do not have a realistic chance of qualifying for the WTC 2025–27 Final. Even if they win all five of their remaining Tests, their maximum possible points percentage would still leave them unlikely to finish in the top two.
