Pakistan Super League 2026 commenced on March 26 and features a battle among eight teams for the trophy. The PSL 2026 final is set to take place on May 3 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
PSL 2026 has reached its climax, and all eight teams are making their final efforts to qualify for the playoffs. Peshawar Zalmi (PES), Multan Sultans (MUS), and Islamabad United (ISL) are the three teams that have qualified for the playoffs so far.
Lahore Qalandars (LAH), Hyderabad Kingsmen (HYK), and Karachi Kings (KAR) are competing for the last spot in the playoffs. All three teams have eight points each, and one of them will advance to the next round. Rawalpindiz are already eliminated from the race to the top four.
Notably, due to the West Asia conflict just at the start of PSL 2026, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided that all the matches would be played behind closed doors for the safety of spectators. Furthermore, only two of the six venues were selected to host the entire tournament.
Earlier, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had said that the matches would be played behind closed doors until the West Asia conflict was resolved. He also added that the restriction could be removed if the situation improves.
All the matches in PSL 2026 so far have been played behind closed doors. However, there is good news for Pakistan fans just ahead of the final.
Fans to be allowed to attend Pakistan Super League 2026 final
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that fans will be allowed to attend the PSL 2026 final. Naqvi, who is also an interior minister in the Government of Pakistan, informed on social media that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the request to allow fans inside the stadium for the PSL 2026 final.
Notably, fans were asked to stay home due to rising fuel prices linked to the war in Iran. The Government of Pakistan had urged people to avoid travelling and work from home due to rising fuel prices.
Moreover, it wouldn’t have been possible for 30,000 fans to attend cricket matches every day while the government is asking the people to stay home. Therefore, the PCB had decided to hold the matches without spectators.
