The first ODI of the series against Sri Lanka is set to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. However, a few reports suggested that the venue for the first ODI had been shifted to Ahmedabad.
The rumour spread across the cricket community, and supporters who wanted to watch the match in Delhi raised questions.
Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clarified that the reports of a venue change for the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka were not credible.
BCCI clarifies venue confusion ahead of the series

In a brief statement on October 12, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the match, scheduled for December 13, was allotted to Delhi as per standard policy and no venue change has been made.
He said “Reports suggesting that the India-Sri Lanka ODI match scheduled in Delhi may be shifted to Ahmedabad are not accurate. There has been no such decision by the BCCI.” He added, “Further, it needs to be reiterated that bilateral matches are primarily allotted by following a standard policy.”
Earlier, reports suggested the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, scheduled for December 13, would shift to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad due to ongoing construction at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
However, the BCCI has clarified the situation and denied the rumours, stating that the match will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The ODI World Cup 2027 is drawing closer, and every 50-over match is now more important than ever for the Indian team as they prepare for the big event. India lost the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, and the team will be eager to win the upcoming edition.
