Will India travel to Bangladesh for Asia Cup 2027? Here’s the latest update

Bangladesh are all set to host Asia Cup 2027.
The focus is slowly shifting towards the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. But, before that, the Asia Cup 2027 is expected to play a key role as Asian teams will be preparing for the next big 50-over ICC tournament, which is likely to be played between October 04 November 21, 2027, in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
After the T20-format Asia Cup in 2025, the tournament is set to return to the ODI format. It will be played between six teams, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and one qualifying Associate nation.
According to multiple reports, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has provisionally set the tournament window from June 18 to July 04, 2027. Bangladesh is expected to remain the host, although an official announcement from the ACC is still awaited.
India will enter as the defending champions, having won both the 2023 ODI Asia Cup and the 2025 T20 Asia Cup. There are chances that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be part of the tournament, and this would alone make it one of the anticipated tournaments on the 2027 cricketing calendar.
Will India play in Bangladesh for the Asia Cup 2027?

With Asia Cup 2027 around the corner, India’s participation has one again hogged the headlines. This is due to the tensions between India and Bangladesh. However, according to reports in My Khel, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) new administration, led by former captain Tamim Iqbal, has made improving cricketing ties with the BCCI one of its priorities.
This change in leadership is believed to have helped reduce tensions between the two boards. There are also reports that Bangladesh’s position within the Asian Cricket Council is expected to become stronger later in 2027 due to the ACC’s leadership rotation. It will further increase the chances of Bangladesh retaining the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2027.
India’s participation is also extremely important for the tournament. From television viewership and sponsorships to ticket sales, India’s presence alone significantly increases the commercial value of the Asia Cup.
One of the possible solutions being discussed is the use of a neutral venue for certain matches. A similar model was used during the 2025 Asia Cup when India was the official host, but the tournament was played entirely in the UAE because of India-Pakistan travel restrictions.
As of now, there is no official confirmation that India will skip the tournament or refuse to travel. The latest reports suggest that ACC and the boards are working towards a solution that allows India to participate without affecting the tournament schedule
When will the Asia Cup 2027 be held?
The tournament is tentatively scheduled from June 18 to July 04, 2027, although the ACC is yet to make an official announcement.
Where will the Asia Cup 2027 take place?
Bangladesh is expected to host the ODI Asia Cup 2027 but the final venue details are still awaiting official confirmation.
