Will India tour of Ireland get cancelled due to civil disturbances? Know here

India are set to clash with Ireland in two T20Is.

The Indian Cricket Team are set to tour to the UK for T20I series against Ireland and then England. The two-match series against Ireland will be played on June 26 and 28, both in Stormont, Belfast.

The IRE vs IND series will mark Shreyas Iyer’s stint as T20I captain. The squad features IPL sensations Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prince Yadav. Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi and Nitish Reddy have also made it to the T20I setup after stellar IPL 2026 performances.

The fans will be eager to witness the Vaibhav-Sooryavanshi-show in the international cricket, and also see the new India captain in action in the T20Is.

However, the excitement for the series, was put to halt due to news regarding safety concerns in Belfast. There were civil disturbances in the locality which raised questions about the continuation with the T20 schedule.

As reported by Cricbuzz, Cricket Ireland (CI) has issued a statement, affirming that they will go ahead with the scheduled fixtures on June 26 and 28, at Stormont. CI engaged with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) following the civil disturbances there a couple of weeks ago.

The current assessment does not, reportedly, indicate any specific threat to the “matches, the participating teams, officials, spectators or the venue.” CI has also received intelligence suggesting there are no plans for protests or demonstrations that could affect either match day. “Accordingly, both Ireland v India T20 International matches at Stormont on 26 and 28 June will proceed as planned,” CI said.

A CI statement further said:

“We will continue to work closely with all relevant agencies and monitor developments in the lead-up to the fixtures. Supporters attending the matches are encouraged to follow official Cricket Ireland channels for any event updates and to allow additional travel time where necessary. We look forward to welcoming fans from Ireland, India and around the world to Belfast for what promises to be a memorable celebration of international cricket.”

The recent crowned T20 World Cup winners of 2026 will be playing a T20I bilateral against Ireland after 2024. With the inclusion of the teenage sensation who was quick to become a crowd puller, the anticipation for the series will be high.
