Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management remains a priority.
India are preparing for their upcoming tour of New Zealand, which will feature five T20Is, five ODIs and two Test matches. The tour will be important for the Men in Blue as they look to perform well across formats and prepare for the challenges ahead.
The five-match ODI series is scheduled to begin on November 4, followed by the two-match Test series. The first Test will start on November 19 in Wellington.
The Indian team management is already planning the workload of its key players ahead of the tour. The main focus is on keeping key players fit for the longer format, especially with the World Test Championship (WTC) being a major priority for India.

According to a report by The Times of India, India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to feature in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand.
Bumrah is reportedly fully fit, but team management wants him to focus on upcoming Test assignments. The decision is part of India’s plan to manage his workload and keep him fresh for the red-ball matches.
The team management believes that, rather than having Bumrah play in the ODI series, it is more important for him to prepare for Test cricket ahead of the important series.
Instead of playing the ODI series, Bumrah is expected to feature in the third and final multi-day match between India A and New Zealand A.
The match will be held from November 7 to 10. It will give Bumrah an opportunity to get some red-ball match practice before the first Test against New Zealand.
Bumrah has already started his red-ball preparations in Ahmedabad and is expected to report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru later this month before travelling to New Zealand.
His participation in the India A match could help him prepare for the conditions and build his readiness for the upcoming Test series.
The Indian team management is also looking beyond the New Zealand tour. India are scheduled to play a five-match Test series against Australia early next year, and Bumrah’s fitness will be important for that assignment as well.
The team wants to avoid putting too much pressure on the fast bowler by making him play matches across formats without enough preparation time.
Bumrah’s last red-ball appearance came during India’s second Test against South Africa in Guwahati in November 2025. He missed India’s next red-ball assignment due to a knee injury.
