Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on each other in match 43 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Friday, May 1. The encounter will take place at Sawai ManSingh Stadium in Jaipur.
DC have faced humiliating defeats in their previous two games of IPL 2026. In the last match, the Axar Patel & Co. were bowled out for just 75 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and lost by nine wickets.
In the prior clash against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), they lost by six wickets even after posting a mammoth total of 264/2 in the first innings. They have won just three games out of eight so far need to come up with an impressive show in the upcoming games if they to fancy their chances of qualifying for playoffs.
Since the start of the tournament, Capitals have missed the services of star pacer Mitchell Starc. The left-arm pacer was recovering from shoulder and elbow injuries and missed the first half of the tournament. Last week, he joined the DC squad and took part in training sessions.
He joined the squad last week but did not play in the previous match. Now, fans are eager to know if the left-arm pacer will feature in the encounter against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Mitchell Starc available for RR vs DC game in IPL 2026
In the pre-match press conference, DC bowling coach Munaf Patel revealed that Starc will be available for the clash against RR. He also added that he is fit to play but the final decision will be taken by the management.
“He is available from tomorrow. Our best bowler will definitely play, but the final decision will be taken tomorrow. Him coming back, it definitely helps. Fast bowlers who may have struggled in the powerplay will get more support,” he stated.
“There won’t be too many changes. We have experienced and performing players in the squad. Unless there is an injury, I don’t think there will be many changes. It is not like you lose and then you start changing everything,” he added.
Notably, following Delhi’s defeat against Punjab Kings, DC’s Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao had confirmed that Starc will be able to play in the clash from May 1 onwards.
“Cricket Australia has given a report. From 1st May onwards (Rajasthan Royals match), he is available. We will wait and see the combination. Hence, he will not be available for today’s home match against RCB,” he had said.
Therefore, Starc is highly likely to feature in the DC vs RR clash tonight. With DC’s severe struggles in the last two games, they would go ahead with a few changes and a bowling legend like Starc cannot be kept out of the playing XI.
