Phil Salt missed RCB’s last clash against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will clash with Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). RCB are currently second on the points table with 10 points, while DC are seventh with six points to their name.

However, the biggest problem for RCB, despite their winning run, will be the availability of ace opener and keeper-batter Phil Salt. The Englishman has been blowing hot and cold in the 19th edition of the IPL and missed the last game for the franchise that was played against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at home on April 24.

Phil Salt has been doing decently in the ongoing IPL 2026. He has scored 202 runs in the 6 games he has played, with a strike rate of 168.33 and has hit two fifties, with the highest score being 78. From the opening ball of the game, he has demonstrated his combative mindset.

However, Salt was ruled out of RCB‘s last game after he had suffered an injury while batting in the nets. Jacob Bethell had replaced his fellow Englishman in the RCB XI, playing his first game of the tournament.

Ahead of the DC game, RCB batting coach and mentor Dinesh Karthik attended a press conference to meet with the reporters and talked about the availability of Phil Salt for the upcoming clash.

The opener will likewise miss Monday’s match against the DC, according to Dinesh Karthik. Salt’s injury before the GT match has not healed.

Salt is injured for the moment,” Karthik said during the pre-match press conference, which ended the doubts over his availability. RCB is worried about his absence because he has been playing well this season.

As per RevSportz, the injury sustained by Phil Salt is not a serious one, and the team management is careful with his recovery. Salt made an impact with a 63-run innings in the first encounter between RCB and DC on April 18, but DC dominated the game and won the exciting game by six wickets.

In their most recent match, RCB defeated the GT, with Virat Kohli once again stepping up in a run chase and hitting 81 runs. The two sides had distinct performances. PBKS broke the record of pursuing the highest-ever total in T20 and IPL history by chasing down the target of 265 runs despite KL Rahul recording an undefeated 152.

Salt’s ongoing absence keeps the RCB opening combination under scrutiny ahead of the DC match, even though the victory over GT demonstrated that RCB can function without him. Salt has been a crucial powerplay aggressor who has given the innings early energy, going beyond simply being a foreign inclusion.
