After two humiliating defeats, Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to clash with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) tonight in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The RR vs DC is the 43rd game of the tournament, scheduled to be played at Sawai ManSingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The Axar Patel-led side suffered a humiliating batting collapse in the previous game, getting all out for just 75 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and suffered a heavy nine-wicket defeat.
Before the RCB clash, they failed to defend their 264-run total against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The Shreyas Iyer & Co. scripted the record for the highest-ever successful chase in IPL history. Now, Capitals have to face another strong team Rajasthan Royals, who have been in spectacular form this season.
Notably, Capitals roped in Prithvi Shaw in their squad ahead of IPL 2026, picking him for INR 75 lakh in mini-auction. The opening batter has warmed the bench in all eight games so far.

DC had a horrible time with the bat in their last game and there’s no doubt that a few changes will be made against RR. This means that Shaw might get an opportunity to feature in IPL 2026 for first time.
Sahil Parekh made his debut as an opener in the previous game; however, he completely flopped by bagging a duck. Pathum Nissanka opened the batting in the initial games but his continuous struggles forced DC to drop him.
KL Rahul has been amazing as an opener with 358 runs in eight innings at an average of 51.14 and a strike rate of 185.49. With the help of a century and two half-centuries, he is also the leading run-scorer for the team. However, his opening partners have failed to support him equally.
In such a scenario, Capitals can try Shaw as an opening partner with Rahul. The former also has a lot of experience as an opener in the IPL.
