Rishabh Pant got hit on his elbow by a delivery from Josh Hazlewood.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are taking on the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at their home ground, the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After winning the toss, RCB asked LSG to bat first.

LSG, however, did not have the start they would have hoped for, with very few runs coming in the opening overs. Markram got out for a low score of 12 runs, after which captain Rishabh Pant walked out to bat.

However, after facing only three balls, he was struck on the elbow by a sharp delivery from Josh Hazlewood. The physio rushed in to check his condition, but they were unable to quickly assess and treat him, after which the on-field umpires suggested that he be taken off the ground if the injury was serious.

Rishabh Pant was seen padded up with tape on his elbow in the dugout. There is a high chance that he might walk out to bat again if any wicket falls.

Pant is known for his fighting spirit on the cricket field. Last year, during the England tour, he was hit on the toe but still walked out to bat with a toe injury, showing great fighting spirit, which attracted a lot of praise from cricket fans and experts around the globe.

Being the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, there is more pressure and responsibility on the shoulders of Pant to stand up for his team. Even though he hasn’t yet justified the investment made in him, he is keen to perform and prove everyone wrong.

Pant later walked out to bat against RCB in the clash at Chinnaswamy despite an elbow injury, but couldn’t do much and scored only 1 run off the 6 balls he faced before giving a catch to Phil Salt off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
