Rohit Sharma sustained a hamstring injury, which sidelined him for a few matches in IPL 2026.
The Mumbai Indians are entering a crucial phase in IPL 2026. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 29. The five-time champions have had a roller coaster ride so far.
MI have shown flashes of brilliance but have also struggled with consistency. This makes their remaining 7 matches extremely crucial for their hopes of qualifying for the IPL 2026 playoffs. The team has relied heavily on key players like Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav.
However, injuries and form issues have affected their balance. Their batting has not always clicked, and the bowling has lacked control in some matches. Currently, they sit in 9th position in the IPL 2026 points table with 4 points.
Playing at the Wankhede Stadium will give MI a strong advantage. The home crowd support has always boosted the team. But with the competition getting tougher, MI need their senior players to step up and deliver in big moments.
Will Rohit Sharma play in the MI vs SRH clash?

Rohit Sharma‘s availability remains uncertain ahead of the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The franchise has made it clear that a final call will be taken only at the toss.
“Rohit has continued to progress, but any call on his involvement in Wednesday’s game will be taken at the toss,” an MI spokesperson was quoted as saying by PTI.
Notably, Rohit has been out of action since April 12. He suffered a hamstring injury during a game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Since then, he has been working hard to regain full fitness. He has attended several net sessions in recent days.
At the Wankhede Stadium, Rohit was seen during training on Tuesday. However, he did not bat. He focused on light drills and running exercises. He also spoke to the support staff for some time before leaving the field.
MI are being careful with his return. They do not want to risk further injury. His presence is very important for the team, both as a batter and a leader.
In his possible absence, Suryakumar Yadav was seen taking on additional responsibility. He trained for nearly 90 minutes and looked focused. The session also saw friendly chats between players from both teams.
