Sanju Samson was dropped from the Indian XI for the second T20I against England.
The Indian Cricket Team are set to take on the England Cricket Team in the third game of the five-match T20I series. The match between the two teams will be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Tuesday, July 7.
The ENG vs IND series is currently in England’s favour, with them 1-0 ahead. After the opening game between the teams was washed out due to rain, the hosts came up with a magical performance in the second T20I, snatching the victory from the jaws of defeat.
India will enter the clash under immense pressure. Ever since they arrived in the UK, nothing has gone in their favour. First, they lost both the games against Ireland and then didn’t start well in England.
The third ENG vs IND T20I will be a must-win game for India if they have to fancy their chances of winning the series. Captain Shreyas Iyer, in particular, will be under pressure as he is yet to win his first game ever since he was appointed as India captain.
Will Sanju Samson play in the third ENG vs IND T20I?
India made a surprising call in the second T20I when Sanju Samson was replaced by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The keeper-batter, who was Player of the Tournament in T20 World Cup 2026, was dropped after just three failures, which saw many fans criticising the team management.
Samson failed to deliver in the two games against Ireland and the one against England. There have been reports which claimed that selectors are not happy with his inconsistency, which is why he was also not picked in the team for the Zimbabwe tour.
The chances of Samson playing the third ENG vs IND seem very low as management would want to give a long rope to 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who became the youngest player to make his debut for India in the last game.
Sooryavanshi copped a nasty blow on his ribs during the training session, and if he is deemed unfit to play, then there are chances of Samson playing. But, as of now, it seems very unlikely, as India’s top-order looked settled in the last game in Manchester.
