Shashank Singh last played for the Punjab Kings in the match against the Delhi Capitals on April 25.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League 2026 on Wednesday, May 6. The clash will take place at SRH’s home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Punjab Kings will aim to defend their top spot in the IPL 2026 points table as SRH can leapfrog them with a victory in tonight’s clash. While Shreyas Iyer & Co. are the table-toppers with 13 points, SRH are placed in the third spot with 12 points.
Moreover, the visitors will aim for a big comeback after losing two games in a row. In their previous games, the IPL 2025 runners-up lost to the Gujarat Titans (GT) by four wickets and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by six wickets.
In both matches, batter Shashank Singh was absent from Punjab’s playing XI. He sustained a hamstring injury in the clash against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 25.
Will Shashank Singh feature in the SRH vs PBKS game?
Although PBKS assistant coach Brad Haddin revealed in the pre-match conference that all of their players have recovered from injuries, he is not completely sure about Shashank playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
“It looks like Shashank will run around and do everything today. That’s our only concern from a fitness point of view, we’ve got all our squad available now. And Shashank will have his last hit out today, and hopefully that goes exactly how we think it will go,” Haddin had said.
In the last two games, PBKS added Suryansh Shedge to fill the vacancy left by Shashank. Shedge scored a crucial half-century in the previous game against the Gujarat Titans in a losing cause.
Meanwhile, Shashank has scored 70 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 194.44, including three unbeaten scores. Since he bats in the lower middle-order, he has fewer deliveries to play.
