Shubman Gill suffered issues with his leg and retired hurt in ENG vs IND 1st ODI.
Indian captain Shubman Gill sustained an injury scare in the 1st ODI against England on July 14. The encounter is underway at Edgbaston, Birmingham, where the hosts won the toss and opted to bat first.
The hosts managed 258/10 in the first innings after facing a batting collapse at the start. Indian pacers restricted them to 80/5 inside 17 overs before Joe Root (76*) and Liam Dawson (68) bailed England out of trouble with their half-centuries.
In the chase, Gill led from the front, hitting a half-century off just 51 deliveries. Slamming his 19th fifty in the ODI format, he helped India take command of the game. Unfortunately, the right-handed batsman suffered issues in his leg in the 26th over, which was being bowled by Josh Tongue.
Gill seemed to be in pain before the team physio came to the field to check on him. After having a chat with the physio, he left the field and retired out himself.

Also, India have reached a dominant position in the match and if they reach the target without losing a lot of wickets, Gill will not need to resume his batting.
Meanwhile, it was Gill’s 19th fifty in ODI cricket and third against England. With a partnership of 101 runs with Iyer for the third wicket, the Indian captain played a crucial role in taking the team towards victory.
When he left the field, India reached 149/2 in the fifth over. After his ouster, Washington Sundar came out to bat.
