All eyes are now on Spencer Johnson. The Australian left-arm pacer has joined the CSK squad in Mumbai. He was earlier signed as a replacement for Nathan Ellis. However now, he is all set to make his debut for his new team, as he will replace injured Khaleel Ahmed in XI.

Khaleel could not even complete his spell in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and was rushed off the field. This raised concerns about his fitness. He was later ruled out of the remainder of the tournament. CSK bowling coach Eric Simmons confirmed a major update before the match.

“Khaleel Ahmed & Anshul Kamboj have been really good for us. Spencer Johnson (Khaleel’s replacement) will be in our starting XI tomorrow night,” Simmons said on the eve of the match.

This statement clearly suggests that Johnson is set to play. His inclusion could strengthen CSK’s pace attack. The team needs fresh energy in bowling after inconsistent performances.

Meanwhile, MI will depend on Jasprit Bumrah, who finally picked his first wicket of the season recently. However, they might miss Rohit Sharma, who has been out with a hamstring injury. Captain Hardik Pandya had confirmed he will miss a couple of matches.
