Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy missed KKR’s last game in IPL 2026.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have had a difficult start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign. The team has managed just one point from three matches so far. They lost two games and their last match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) was washed out due to rain. This has put them under early pressure in the tournament.

In that PBKS game, KKR could not get a result despite preparing well. Rain played spoilsport and both teams had to share points. It was a frustrating outcome for KKR, who were hoping to get back to winning ways as they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next match on April 9 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The team currently sits on the seventh position of the points table, just ahead of five time IPL winners, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With several matches ahead, they still have time to recover. However, they need strong performances soon to stay in the playoff race.

With KKR vs LSG match around the corner, KKR have received positive news as experienced spinner Sunil Narine has recovered from illness. He missed the previous match but has now returned to training. His presence brings experience and control to the bowling attack.

In the last match, KKR had to play without both their main spinners. This was the first time since IPL 2019 that neither Narine nor Varun Chakravarthy was part of the playing XI. Young spinner Anukul Roy handled the spin duties alone, which showed the team’s lack of depth in that department.

On the other hand, Varun Chakravarthy is still recovering from a left-hand injury. He was seen with heavy taping during practice sessions. This has raised concerns about his fitness and match readiness.

Another positive sign for KKR is Cameron Green. The Australian all-rounder who was bought for a whopping amount of ₹25.20 crore has started bowling again in the practice sessions. Team management is carefully monitoring his workload. If he bowls in matches, it will give the captain Ajinkya Rahane many more options, especially in the middle overs.

KKR will hope that these developments help improve their balance. With a tough schedule ahead, they need both their batting and bowling units to perform consistently.

How many points does KKR have in IPL 2026?

KKR has one point from three matches.

Why was the PBKS vs KKR match not completed?

The match was washed out due to rain.
