Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history on Saturday as he became the youngest Indian player to make his debut in international cricket, playing against England in second T20I in Manchester. Before him, the record belonged to the great Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days. Sooryavanshi debuted at the age of 15 years and 99 days.
However, Sooryavanshi could not leave a great mark in his first match, as he managed to score 14 runs, but it included two brilliant sixes that showed the potential of the young sensation. Sooryavanshi has been in tremendous form this year. He won the U-19 World Cup for India with an entertaining knock in the final and was later named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament in the IPL while representing the Rajasthan Royals (RR) along with winning Orange Cap.
His brilliant form at the junior level and later against senior-level players earned him his maiden call-up to the Indian team. Even though he wasn’t given a chance in the Ireland series, the team management decided to try him out in the series against England.

There are high chances that the team management will back Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for the third T20I against England. The India are coming off an embarrassing 0–2 series loss to Ireland and is now 0–1 down against England.
The team is going through a transition, having changed their captain. Suryakumar Yadav, who captained the team to glory in the T20 World Cup 2026, was not selected due to his poor form, and Shreyas Iyer has been given the responsibility of leading the side.
A player like Sooryavanshi, who is destructive by nature, can win matches on his own on any given day, and now that he has been unleashed, we may see more of him. It is a big dilemma for the management because they benched Sanju Samson in the last game, despite him playing a major role in the team’s success earlier this year in the World Cup.
However, no one can deny the potential of Sooryavanshi and the value he brings to the team.
