Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has received his maiden India call-up for first IRE vs IND T20I.
The Indian Cricket Team are gearing up for a two-match T20I series against Ireland in Stormont, Belfast. They will be playing a T20I series after a prolonged IPL season.
Shreyas Iyer is the new T20 captain for India, replacing Suryakumar Yadav. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prince Yadav earned their maiden T20 call-ups for their incredible Indian Premier League (IPL) performances. Meanwhile, some notable inclusions were those of Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna and Nitish Reddy’s injury replacement Suryansh Shedge.
India have two years ahead of the next ICC T20 World Cup and the LA Olympics due in 2028. The management will be keen to experiment with the team combinations in this span. They would want to reward domestic and IPL performers and give players a platform to flaunt their abilities.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has earned his maiden call-up for the senior Indian Men’s Cricket team after his IPL 2026 heroics. He scored 776 runs at a blazing strike rate of 237 for Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Not only was he the Orange Cap holder, but also the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. He won many other accolades, including the Most Sixes, the Emerging Player of the Tournament, and the Super Striker of the tournament.
Sooryavanshi was also the Player of the Tournament in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 where he scored 175 (80) in the Final. He featured in the recently concluded Tri-Nation A series in Sri Lanka as well, where he was the Player of the Match in the Final for his 94 (29).
He has been the catalyst behind all the social media buzz ahead of the series. Everyone is awaiting for the wonder kid to debut in the blue, making his name on the big stage.
There is a very high possibility of Sooryavanshi making his debut tonight, as this will be the perfect stage for him to embark upon his international journey. India could rest one of their top 3, from Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, to make way for this teenager.
India have adopted a very aggressive T20 cricket approach, where they aim to go all-in in their batting line-up. They look to go explosive throughout the 20 overs and have players who are well able to do so. Vaibhav had some extraordinary IPL performances, where he had quick-fire knocks.
