Yashasvi Jaiswal will be making his comeback to the Indian ODI team in IND vs WI series.
The Indian Cricket Team is all set to feature in a three-match ODI series against the West Indies, starting on September 27, Sunday. The first ODI will be hosted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
As the India field another squad at the Asian Games in Japan, it has affected the squad for this series as well, with a few big names missing. This will open the door for other players to finally show their capabilities.
This ODI series also marks the return of Indian superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both experienced players have retired from the other two formats of the game and now feature only in ODIs for India.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has also been included in the squad for the ODI series against the West Indies. The 24-year-old emerging star has already shown what he is capable of. In the six ODIs he has played, he has scored two centuries already. However, he is still not a regular starter in India’s ODI team.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his ODI debut in February 2025, and since then, he has played only six ODI matches, scoring 285 runs, including two brilliant centuries. However, he is still not a regular starter for the Indian cricket team in ODIs.
Since Jaiswal is an opener in all three formats, there is a lot of competition in the team. Rohit Sharma, who is now 39 years old and one of the best openers in the world, opens the innings alongside Indian captain Shubman Gill. Both Rohit and Gill are important players for the team, and they are almost always in good form, making the case for Jaiswal even more difficult.
In the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies, we may see Rohit opening with Gill again, with Virat Kohli coming in at number three. The regular number four, Shreyas Iyer, is not included in the team as he is captaining India at the Asian Games, so we might see Ruturaj Gaikwad in his place.
The top four is packed, and there is little room for Jaiswal to come out and show his performance. However, if head coach Gautam Gambhir thinks this is the perfect time for an experiment, we might see Jaiswal playing at least one match against the West Indies.
